Private Residence, Northland

Part of the brief for this residential home was for it to blend with the beautiful surrounding landscape.  A home with space to welcome family and friends in an environment which is relaxed and inviting.

Selecting the finishes started with the exterior cladding, which is a honed finish, terracotta tile, from NBK. Over time the soft colouring and subtle texture of the tile will gradually merge with the native plantings which surround it.

Rodeca translucent panels were used in the garage door and the highest window spaces to allow natural diffused light to filter through without damaging the artworks and help to regulate the temperature throughout the house.

The large-format porcelain floor tiles were chosen to flow seamlessly from inside to outside with a structured surface change for the outdoor spaces.  The finishing details such as edge capping and drainage tiles were also made in the same tile so that everything has a uniform finish, including the divisional breaks in the driveway.  Mirage tiles were also chosen for the bathrooms throughout the home bringing a luxurious spa-like feel to each room.

Beautiful mosaic tiles from Porcelanosa were chosen for the seating in the steam room for both the softly curved seating and the ceiling.

Tarkett wooden floors, featuring extra-large planks, were installed to give the family spaces an open and airy feel and reflect the warm sandy colouring of the adjoining harbour.

Rugs for the living area were made from the same broadloom carpet which was installed in the bedrooms and this provides a soft and textural element to the living areas as well as being able to withstand the rigours of a very busy family home.
