Jack’s Point Medical | Jacobsen NZ Flooring

The recently constructed Jack's Point Medical Centre is located in the upscale community near Queenstown, nestled in the breathtaking alpine surroundings of the Remarkables mountain range. The centre provides healthcare services to the Jack's Point community as well as the wider Queenstown area.

The designers at Forager Studio aimed to create a warm and comforting atmosphere for the medical centre, avoiding the stark and clinical look typical of medical spaces. Their challenge was to design an environment that felt refined and inviting while still meeting the practical demands of a healthcare facility.

They accomplished this by incorporating natural oak and earthy tones and textures that gave the space a grounded, organic feel that complements the surrounding mountains.

Jacobsen worked closely with Forager Studio to select and provide a variety of flooring samples to ensure a perfect fit. Carpet tile was a natural choice for the hallways, waiting area and consulting rooms and after evaluating numerous options, the design team chose Carpets Inter’s Breaking Waves Over the Ocean in Rockaway, an organic design that brought an element of nature indoors.

Considering the medical requirements of the facility, hygiene was of utmost importance. The selected carpet tile was specifically recommended for healthcare spaces due to its antimicrobial properties.

Forager Studio made sure to prioritise comfort underfoot, especially in high-traffic areas such as hallways and waiting rooms. The acoustic backing of the carpet tile played a crucial role in creating a quiet and calm atmosphere within the consulting rooms, ensuring patient privacy and a sense of safety.

Tarkett Traffic 250 vinyl was chosen to complete the interior palette. This elegant vinyl flooring collection features warm, natural wood designs that help to establish a comforting, homely atmosphere within the medical centre. With a 0.70mm wear layer and a 13dB acoustic rating, it is well-suited for healthcare environments, offering durability, comfort and sound absorption.

Jacobsen’s collaboration with Forager Studio resulted in a flooring solution that successfully merged aesthetics with functionality. The outcome is a healthcare space that feels secure, welcoming, and in harmony with the natural beauty of its surroundings, offering comfort and privacy for both patients and staff.
