This design intended to represent Auckland as a maritime city and initiate a visual celebration of the connection to both personal and public space. The transition of colour in the flooring, reveals the journey from internal personal space to external public space. 

The design premise is reflected in the choice of colours moving from ‘The Living Room’ with warm orange and reds, to the ‘Front Lawn’ with a fresh green, to ‘The Beach’ with blue tiles mimicking the sea interspersed with neutral browns representing the sand. 

The Shaw Contract Group Plane Hex Carpet tile was enlisted for this project in an assortment of solid block colours. The hexagon shape and variety of colours and textures enable a harmonious blend between the different thematic zones. The colours were also chosen to match the feature wallpaper and lifestyle imagery on the perimeter walls.
