Milford Asset Management, Auckland

On the top floor of 50 Albert Street in Auckland's CBD, the new Milford Asset Management workplace draws on the landscapes that shape a uniquely New Zealand identity. Designed by Wingates, the 2,030 sqm fit-out gathers teams that were once spread across two levels onto a single floor, where the spatial journey takes its lead from the drama of Milford Sound.

Natural light and wellbeing guide the scheme. A landscaped courtyard sits at the centre of the floorplate, giving staff and visitors a calm oasis to gather around. Overhead, a custom ceiling installation inspired by New Zealand forest canopies filters light into a soft dapple, echoing the feeling of walking beneath native bush.

Colour threads the story through the floor. The palette borrows from the iridescent wings of the Kea, while accents of orange recall the markers found along the DoC Great Walks. That orange returns overhead in an exposed ceiling that traces the main circulation path, giving the workplace an intuitive sense of direction.

Sustainability shaped the approach throughout, with existing furniture retained, repurposed and reupholstered to reduce waste. Shared spaces bring the team together, from a staff kitchen and training room joined by an operable wall for all-staff events to the break-out settings that open onto city views.

The result is a workplace that fosters connection, supports growth and reflects the New Zealand identity at the core of Milford's story.
