Samsung's new Auckland headquarters was designed to feel globally relevant while staying grounded in its local context. Working alongside Samsung's global team, Unispace set out to create a workplace that celebrates the brand and deepens the connection between Samsung's people and the products they represent.
That sense of connection runs through every part of the fit-out. Unispace guided Samsung's move from a traditional workstyle to flexi neighbourhoods, opening up visibility across departments so staff can immerse themselves in the full breadth of Samsung's products and offerings.
A considered mix of work settings supports the different ways people work, from deep focus areas to tech-enabled collaboration spaces, training and experiential zones, project spaces and a generous social and café space.
Wellbeing shaped the experience at every turn. The user journey was carefully resolved to feel intuitive, with a clear priority on natural light and biophilic elements.
Moving reception from Level 1 to the ground floor created a warmer arrival for clients, while the main café was elevated into a collaborative heart for the whole team, anchored by sculptural ribbon lighting and an illuminated Samsung brand moment that gives the space its identity.
Materiality carries the same intent. Underfoot, Shaw Contract Dye Lab carpet tile in Cornflower, Sumac, Black Tea and Iron grounds the interior in the natural world. Inspired by natural dyes Dye Lab echoes the subtle colour shifts of naturally dyed textiles, moving from light to saturated for a soft organic finish that sits comfortably alongside the biophilic palette.
The tile brings strong environmental credentials too, with Cradle to Cradle® Silver certification and EcoWorx® backing that is fully recyclable and carbon neutral. Through Jacobsen’s Re.Form Programme it can be reclaimed and recycled at the end of its life, keeping it out of landfill.
In Samsung's technical and ESD-sensitive areas, Tarkett iQ Granit SD in Dark Grey 949 provides permanently static-dissipative vinyl flooring suited to server rooms and similar spaces, pairing reliable conductivity with the durability the iQ Granit range is known for.
The result is a headquarters built for growth. The project combined a significant building refurbishment with a new interior fit-out, lifting occupancy from 200 to 350 people and giving Samsung room and security for the future.
