Woodview HQ Office

Woodview Construction reached out to Taylored studio in late 2017 to lead the design process for their new headquarter building. The design brief was thorough and challenging, presenting Woodview with the opportunity to present their capabilities and reflect their beliefs as a forward-thinking construction company.
An NZGBC green star rated design and build captured the essence of company operations within the industry as well as internally with their strong belief in people and relationships. The Shaw Modern Edit carpet tile selected added to this green star rating and the grounding of these beliefs in the project.
With a strong presentation to the street frontage, the design had to claim a presence within the evolving context of Westgate. The client needed a design which was solid in its materiality and welcoming to visitors with large, glazed openings. This is further reinforced down the drive towards the rear of the building where the design responds to solar gain and the opportunity for breakout space at both levels of the build.
On entering the building, one is welcomed into an atrium-like space with a staircase that plays a key role in maintaining a good connection between both floors. The ground floor is home to the majority of meeting rooms, amenities and social spaces including a large communal kitchen that opens into a rear courtyard. Upstairs holds a large open-plan office influenced by an activity-based working environment design which promotes collaborative production and efficiencies in terms of occupation.
This building aims to find a balance between work and play, mass and light and to evoke spaces of comfort and delight.
On entering the building the visitor is welcomed into an atrium-like space with a staircase that plays a key role in maintaining a good connection between both floors. Operationally the ground floor holds most of the meeting rooms, amenities, and social spaces including a large communal kitchen that opens onto a rear courtyard.
Up the main stairs, you are greeted by a large open plan office influenced by activity-based working environment design where the flexibility of use promotes collaborative production and efficiencies in terms of occupation. The central corridor of the first-floor layout focuses on type spec space linking through to an upper deck and breakout space that catches the western light.
The design of this building searches to find a balance between work and play, mass and light, to evoke spaces of comfort and delight.
