In 2024/25 designers can expect to see the traditional whites, sand, bright blues and teals of Classic Coastal being replaced by the darker shades of the deep sea- emerald greens, stormy greys and almost black blues.

Peach and apricot hues are 2024/25's fruitiest trend and an exciting colour palette for designers to translate into retail and hospitality spaces.

Shaw Contract’s newest hospitality collection, Awaken, debuted earlier this year. The custom collection of rugs and broadloom was designed using Shaw’s innovative, brand-new tufted technology, which allowed their design team to create cut and loop carpets with multiple pile heights and up to 16 different colours in one style. 

Sound, in its various forms, profoundly impacts the experiences of patients, staff, and visitors in Healthcare settings. While some sounds can be soothing and therapeutic, unwanted noise often becomes a source of stress and discomfort.  

This aesthetic trend of near-black, cocoon like interiors emerges as a response to the desire for safety and escapism during these unsettling times. Dimly lit, moody environments with limited visual cues help to focus the mind and heighten the senses, creating unique and intimate atmospheres.

Medical staff frequently highlight their “right to respite” and the need for private spaces that are dedicated not just to work but also to rest. Medical staff need to know that the healthcare environments they work in have been designed with due consideration given to their personal and professional needs, including their need for areas of rest and respite.

The COVID-19 crisis was a powerful reminder of how infection prevention and control (IPC) strategies are essential in healthcare and aged-care environments to stop the development of infections and antimicrobial resistance. It highlighted the importance of effective cleaning protocols for preventing transmission. 

One of hospitality’s big trends for 2024/25 will be Glimmers. It's all about hyper-texture, expressive furniture, bold blocking and exciting use of colour.
